Like Arrows: Movie Review & Giveaway

I think we can all agree that parenting is difficult, but it’s absolutely worth it. Today on the blog, I’m going to introduce a movie that celebrates every beautiful and terrifying moment of the parenting journey. I just recently had the opportunity to watch it with my husband (in a rare moment without the kids), and we both really liked it. And, incidentally, I just saw a preview for it when we saw I Can Only Imagine last night at the theater, so if you saw that movie, you might have seen the preview for this movie too.

Here’s the movie synopsis:

When conflict, rebellion, and resentment overwhelm their family, Charlie and
Alice are forced to rethink their parenting strategy. In the process, they realize how
critical intentionality and focus are when shaping and molding young lives.

FamilyLife’s first feature film explores the challenges and joys that come with raising children. Through a journey that unfolds over 50 years, Charlie and Alice discover the
unmistakable power of family. Together, they learn that knowing and living by God’s
Word is what brings transformation and hope to any family.

The title of the movie (and even the movie itself, to some extent) comes from Psalm 127:14: “Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So are the children of one’s youth” (NASB). I’ve read that verse before several times, but I’ve never really considered before just how much like arrows children are. You’ve got to train them where to go, but then you have to let go … and let God.

This film is in limited release, only on the days pictured above (May 1 and 3, 2018). To check whether it’s in a theater near year and/or to buy tickets, you can click this link.

You will also want to check out the resources tab at the top of the page, because there are lots of cool free guides to help you along your parenting journey as you point your children to God.

I have two Fandango codes (to be used in theater) to giveaway to one lucky winner, and all you have to do is comment on this blog post. Let me know what your biggest struggle and/or joy is as a parent before 11:59 PM EST on Tuesday, April 24th, 2018, and you’ll be entered to win.

If you’re a parent (and especially if you’re a Christian parent), you’re going to want to watch this movie. Don’t miss this opportunity to strengthen your families and strengthen your own confidence in your parenting abilities … with God’s help.
