SIGNING UP FOR A NEW SERVICE
I just recently signed up for a Feeln TV subscription. I’ve always loved Hallmark movies, and we replaced our cable service with a Roku over a year ago because it was just getting too darn expensive. Well, one night I was flipping through the Feeln offerings, and I ran across Sue Thomas F. B. Eye.
AND REDISCOVERING AN OLD FAVORITE
I vaguely remembered watching this when it was first on the PAX TV network back in the early 2000s. Also, I remembered it as a decent, wholesome show with some mystery thrown in – and, of course, the dog! So, I decided to give it a try one night before bed. I usually watch TV before bed – it helps me sleep. TV doesn’t engage me as much as books do, so I don’t stay up all night. Sleeping at night is important when you have to get up and take care of two little energetic girls!
I started with the pilot, because that seemed like the natural place to start. I was focused on something else at the time the opening credits were rolling, so I didn’t see all the actors’ names. It’s not usually that important to me to know all the names of the actors playing in movies and TV shows, but I made an exception in this case.
WHO IS THAT GUY?
I was soon struck with the realization that the FBI agent working with Sue was really handsome – and also vaguely familiar. Who was that guy? I kept watching, and some of his facial expressions started to remind me of Murdoch Mysteries‘ William Murdoch (Yannick Bisson).
“That’s William Murdoch!” I said to myself, because no one else was in the room. But then I tried to talk myself out of it. That couldn’t really be Murdoch.
WHAT’S WILLIAM MURDOCH DOING WITH SUE THOMAS?
At one point, I closed my eyes, so I couldn’t see him anymore, but I could hear him. And it SOUNDED like William Murdoch. My body and mind were fully awake at this point because my curiosity was aroused, so I reached for my laptop and Googled the cast list for Sue Thomas F. B. Eye. Sure enough, I discovered that Yannick Bisson (also known as William Murdoch) played Agent Jack Hudson, Sue Thomas’s partner and love interest.
INTERSECTING TV SHOWS
I immediately told my husband about this discovery, and he was mildly interested. He just didn’t find it as fascinating as I did. I love it when my favorite movie and TV actors show up in other favorite movies/TV shows. We had just finished binge-watching Murdoch Mysteries on Netflix not long before, so his face and voice were pretty fresh in my mind. I’ll probably discuss that show at some point on this site because I love it so much!
I’M STILL PROBABLY GOING TO CALL YOU WILLIAM, JACK
But, for now, I’ll stick with Sue and Jack (I like them as a pair better than I did William and Julia, anyway. Julia was always such a rat to William!). And if you can get access to the Feeln channel, I highly recommend you give it a try. There are quite a few mysteries to enjoy – even some Sherlock Holmes adaptations. And almost all of them are family friendly!
