August is a big month for me personally – August 14th was the day my husband and I went on our first date in 2004 – almost 10 years ago.
The day before that, August 13, was the day Jane Compton married Nat Austin in Monroe County, Kentucky, in 1854. It was also the day in 1862 when Nat Austin was gunned down by Confederate soldiers, making Jane a widow. This real life event was part of what inspired me to write this heavily fictionalized account of Jane Austin’s (Addison, in my novel) life.
Since those two anniversary dates are so close together, I thought it would be a good idea to celebrate by lowering the price of my book. Then, I started thinking about the 14th being toward the middle of the month, and I came to the conclusion that it might not be a bad idea to start the promotion at the beginning of the month, so from August 1 to August 15, the Kindle version of SUN’S PARTING RAY will be on sale for only $.99.
Here’s the book description:
Just follow your heart, and everything will turn out the way it is supposed to. This is the way Jane Addison has always lived her life, but it doesn’t seem like anything ever turns out according to what her heart truly desires. This is especially true when her husband is gunned down by Confederate soldiers on their eighth wedding anniversary. Then, when she meets, and falls in love with, her late husband’s married best friend, things really get confusing for the young widow.
Will she and Cole follow their hearts and give up their homes, their lives, and everything they believe, or will deny their feelings to protect their families? Which will they choose at the SUN’S PARTING RAY?
“And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand” (Mark 3:25).
